Sir,

I have the honour to forward, for the

favour of transmission to the Foreign Office,

a copy of a letter received from a Mr. Eric

Mayell in which he claims compensation in

respect of personal property lost in the

U.S.S. "Panay". A statutory declaration in

support of the claim is also transmitted

herewith.

2. Mr. Mayell's passport has been

inspected and found to be in order. His

present address is:
